Luxo the Lamp Fan Art

The logo fights back!

"This project began as a playful what-if scenario: What if the iconic Pixar intro didn’t go according to plan? I imagined a moment where the logo develops a personality of its own…mischievous, reactive, and ready to push back."

Using Cinema4D and Redshift, I set out to build a short animation that felt both familiar and delightfully off-script. The fun was in exaggerating physicality and personality while still honoring the charm of the original Pixar intro. I treated Luxo like a small, stubborn character — curious, determined, and just a little chaotic.

The final beat became the twist: as Luxo hops into position, the logo springs to life, pops him into the air, and sends him bouncing across the ground like a rubber desk toy. It’s playful, unexpected, and full of the kind of squash-and-stretch energy that makes animation feel alive.

From a technical standpoint, the animation relied heavily on timing, weight simulation, and secondary motion to sell the gag. I used C4D’s rigging tools to articulate the lamp, making sure each segment moved with mechanical believability. Redshift handled the lighting and reflections to emulate the clean, glossy surface of modern Pixar renders, while still keeping render times efficient.

The result is a quick, joyful fan-animation that let me stretch my character-animation instincts in a familiar, iconic setting — a small creative workout that brought a lot of personality to a very well-known moment.
