RealPage Job Cost Explainer

Quirky software marketing for multifamily housing

"I was tasked with creating an explainer animation that breaks down how the platform helps property managers track expenses, monitor budgets, and streamline project workflows. The challenge was turning a financial-heavy subject into something clear, optimistic, and engaging."

Creative Approach

The creative direction focused on a circular visual metaphor: everything in a construction or renovation project loops back to cost, planning, and proper tracking. I used this as a thematic anchor for transitions and scene changes.

Bright color palettes mixed with soft texture overlays created a more inviting setting for what is traditionally a dry topic.

Design & Animation Workflow

As with the other RealPage animations, the look is flat and stylized. I built a handful of reusable animated elements—charts, dashboards, budgets, workflow arrows—that could assemble into larger scenes. A few of these components were modeled in Cinema4D (primarily anything that needed dimensionality or orbiting motion), then flattened visually to fit the graphic style.

Most of the animation took place in After Effects, where I rigged icons, transitions, and “data objects” to interact with each other in playful ways. Compositing and visual effects such as glows, rays, and parallax accents were also handled in AE.

Result

The final product communicates the Job Cost platform’s functionality in a way that feels efficient and clean. Each scene flows into the next like a well-run project, creating a visual sense of progression and control—exactly what the software promises.
